Wang Kelian is a popular market situated along the Malaysia - Thai border at the most northern town in Malaysia. A myriad of goods such as handicrafts, tableware and clothing are available here. Visitors can visit the market without the use of passports when crossing the border. This is only provided that they are remain within the market area.
Not forgetting the Wang Kelian State Park, nature lovers and adventures are sure to enjoy the visit to Wang Kelian State Park. The forest is rich with flora and fauna, with some of the flora is close to Thai vegetation. This area is about 1,000 hectors located in the Mata Ayer Forest Reserve.
On the way to Wang Kelian, visitors will see a spectacular view of the Timah Tasoh Dam and the unique twin peaks of Bukit Chabang.
For adventures, take a challenging walk at the jungle trek form the camping site past a trapping waterfall leading to the Wang Burma cave.
It is easy to get there either by taxi or by bus. You can get a taxi form Kangar or Padang Besar to Wang Kelian. Alternatively, you can catch a bus to Kaki Bukit and catch a taxi from there, which would cost you less. There are no direct buses to Wang Kelian. The nearest point with a bus service is Kaki Bukit, which is served by buses from Kangar and less frequently from Padang Besar. Then, you will have to catch a taxi form Kaki Bukit to Wang Kelian.
Travellers can easily walk across the border and the two immigration posts are about 100 meters apart. A small trucks to Satun in Thailand side is waiting for passengers ofn the Thai side of the border.
